Brunch @ Cinchona Bar – 25hours Hotel Zurich

My personal highlight: Brunch à la carte with probably the best Shakshuka in Zurich!

The easy way to brunch: at the bar or on a cosy sofa in a living room ambience

Welcome to the Cinchona Bar located in the 25hours Hotel at Langstrasse / Europaallee. The place is famous for its High Balls in town and the extraordinary lively ambience.
I discovered their brunch menu that fits perfectly if you are not in the mood for a large buffet but more into plates to share with your friends.

Need help in choosing out of the menu?

Get a great choice of healthy food as a crunchy Granola bowl with creamy greek yoghurt and fresh fruits or delicious pancakes, vegetarian or classical American ones with bacon and maple syrup.
My heart goes boom for the Shakshuka. The tomato sauce is spiced just perfect and the eggs are amazingly creamy inside. The way I absolutely love them. Als recommend The grilled Pastrami Sandwich! The mustard is the perfect match for the beef, sourdough bread, egg and spinach.
Read their complete menu here!

What about a breakfast juice at the bar? Choose the Fortified MARY Vodka infused with spices and portwine, lime, tomato juice!

Prices vary from 9 CHF for the Granola bowl, 12 CHF for the American pancakes, 13 CHF for the Shakshuka to 19 CHF for the grilled Pastrami sandwich.

Address: 25hours Hotel, Langstrasse 150, 8004 Zürich

Opening hours: Breakfast is served from Monday to Friday, 0800 am to 1030 am, Saturday & Sunday 0900 am to 0200 pm.

Take a look at my review of their hotel, if you plan to stay for a night there!

COFFEE ZURICH

My personal highlight: Variety of filter coffees and best eggs benedict

COFFEE is located in Kreis 4 at Grüngasse 4. The name says it all, very straight forward, it’s a coffee place with the roast from the established Swiss roaster Stoll. Their filter coffee selection is variegated so that everybody can find the right flavor. The place has a lovely vintage style interior and a nice window front that brings in much of light.

The owner are Shem Leupin and Thomas Leuenberger. Shem is a ex Swiss Barista Champ and a coffee roaster, he knows how to prepare your coffee.

Thomas is an experienced Chef and creates healthy and creative food for you, all Vegetarian.  The dishes you find are prepared fresh and at the moment of ordering.

Brunch

Their signature dish are the Coffee Zurich Eggs Benedict. The home made sauce hollandaise is fantastic and prepared at the moment. Find also cakes and home made sandwiches.

On Saturday’s you get a special brunch menu. We had a parsnip cream with fermented apples, homemade cheese, grilled lettuce, some marinated mustard seeds, decorated with cheese crackers and the last mandarines of the season. Thomas makes everything by himself. His dedication in explaining every single ingredient is much appreciated from every guest. It was an explosion of flavors. Light and super fresh.
Go there for brunch and discover more delicacies for your belly!

Fork & Bottle Restaurant

Fork & Bottle

My personal highlight: Fingerlick’n crispy chicken wings deep fried in duck fat and fries fried 3 times!

Farm to table in Zurich country setting style

Fork & Bottle is spoiling our city since a while with their menu. It’s located a bit out of the city centre but easy to reach by car or bus. By bus get out at Brunau walk 2 minutes to Allmendstrasse 20.

If you love craft beer, great pieces of meat or a generous brunch you are right here. Choose from over 80 different craft beers, some are local, too. My heart beats for an Italian beer called Tipolis brewed from Birrifcio Italiano.

Meat and dessert lover

Try the 10 Hour House Smoked BBQ Pork Ribs with hand cut fries. Need a sugar love bomb and adrenalin boost? Go for the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. It’s a home made Daim ice cream with chocolate ganache and some exotic pieces of pistachio, on top a marshmallow fluff. Very sophisticated and worth every spoon. Come hungry or just share dishes, portions are American Style!

The food is prepared fresh, ingredients mainly from local farmers and suppliers.

The atmosphere at F&B is cozy, nice light and ambience due to the great space. Its open space invites to stay and have good conversations, it’s never too loud. Their beer garden is the biggest in town I guess, so absolutely inviting during nice summer days. The staff is lovely and happy to explain you the whole menu.

Try it, you will be satisfied.

Kafidihei Coffee & Brunch

marshmallow coffee

My personal highlight: Hand made cakes with fruits, super soft and not too sweet – Marshmallow coffee!

For girls cake afternoon and boys Brunch

A very cozy atmosphere makes me feel like at my aunty’s home when I am at this place. The name itself says it, too. Coffee at home. You’re invited to feel like at your own home!

Sabinska and Geraldine put so much creativity in this place. I am not only impressed about the home made cakes and the super soft healthy cereal bread. It’s the love you feel in every little object hanging at the wall, placed at the bar and on the table, the sharks moving and disco lamp lightening the restroom of the boys.

If you are looking for the one and only marshmallow coffee or hot chocolate in town, find them here! I love the nutella Mess!

By the by the way, Kafidihei is famous for it’s delicious brunch, too. They have  a very good quality/price offer.

It’s located in kreis 3, at Zurlindenstrasse 231.
I always find a place here, also if I forget to make a reservation. It’s nice to sit outside, if the weather allows.

Bros Beans & Beats Coffee & Bar

bros beans & beats

My personal highlight: Hot Zopf with Banana and peanut butter

Combining excellent coffee with creative food

Bros Beans & Beats are new in town at Gartenstrasse 24 in Kreis 4/Wiedikon. Beside having nice quality coffee they also have healthy fresh food on their menu. The specialty coffee has a chocolate and nutty flavor of their fifty fifty coffee is roasted locally by Henauer in Höri/ZH.

As a snack try the oriental tabuleh lentil sticks with a tasty zatziki or a fresh swiss ham and parmesan bread with plenty of rucola. All is prepared à la minute for you.

Filter coffee with a fruity flavor

Explore a complete new coffee culture! Try their filter coffee, it smells fruity and super delicious, a new exploration for your tongue. The filter coffee they brew is from the company verticalcoffee roasters. Forget the outdated filter coffee machines used back in the 90s. Today we talk about high class mocca machines. The one Bros Beans & Beats uses is the moccamaster.

The ambience is cozy and peaceful, they have a comfy lounge, too. In the evening the place is nice for a drink. Summer terrace is perfect spot to hang out after work for a cold coffee.

Once there I like to have a chat with the staff, they are relaxed and love to introduce you to their place with plenty of attention.

My personal highlight: Wipkingen Ofeneier, don’t know any other place in town that makes them like they do.

Brunch, coffee, music, b&b

This place is in a urban and much liked area of Zurich in Kreis 1o. Its interior is easy and casual. The concept of having a large table where you can join other people if you’re coming alone is great.

Kafischnaps is a good alternative to a hotel, if you have some friends staying over. They have lovely rooms! At weekends there are also live music performances .

Give it a try! It’s located at Kornhausstrasse 57 close to Schaffhauserplatz/Wipkingen.

Island hopping from Malaysia to Koh Lipe

Sharing is caring! That’s how driving taxi made me meet the best travel buddies ever traveling to Koh Lipe Thailand

Crystal clear waters, delicious simple street food and plenty of lovely souls

What exciting days in Malaysia and Thailand! I experienced one of the most beautiful places on earth called: Koh Lipe Thailand! Turquoise water, sandy white beaches! The resort we stayed was magic. The Serendipity Beach Resorts, is an absolutely must do, once in a while to give oneself aCr Who would ever told me, that I would travel 10 days of my trip with two Belgian Moroccan guys? I can’t remember one night without laughing while hanging around with Hamid and Faouaz. It would take me hours to write down what we experienced together. And all of that began only because I wanted to share taxi costs to the airport to catch my flight to a beautiful city called Georgetown Penang.

Travel with a free spirit

You know what people out there, we should move at home how we move while we travel, with a free spirit and more openhearted. Life has so much beauty to offer and back home we kind of live stuck in our system, habits and routine. Life is unpredictable, that is why you should go with the flow of it.
A special thing I have to point out are the Malaysian people I met, all of them made our journey so beautiful, it’s an amazing friendly folk with much cultural mix (Indian, Chinese, Malaysian) and so much serene happy people always to help out. It feels good to be surrounded with love and peace!

No please, I don’t want KFC food

1. Two food related stories out of my journey. I had to eat at KFCs. OMG, the chicken was so so dead! Never again guys! 2. On one of our journeys the taxi driver stopped especially for us to buy us some fresh boiled corn cob! It was so delicious!

Where to sleep  and have Yoga in Malaysia & Thailand

Lots of super delicious street food wherever you walk! For these no link is available, you walk on the streets and follow your nose.
